The Office of Housing promotes the County's vision, mission, and goal by promoting orderly growth, creating a favorable environment for the development of affordable, and workforce housing. The Division is actively working to ensure that all citizens of Fulton County have decent, safe and access and retaining the American Dream of Homeownership.
The Division uses federal Home funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to:
- Loans
- Homeownership
- Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA)
- Federal funds to non-profit developers for the development of affordable housing.
In addition to administering federal funds, the Office of Housing has oversight of economic development tools which offer state and local government incentives for the development of affordable and workforce housing:
- Housing Enterprise Zones (HEZs)
- Tax Allocation Districts (TADs),
- Tax Exempt Private Activity Bonds (TEPABs), and
- Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs).
The Division works for legislation that insures Home Preservation laws exist and for laws that protect families from Predatory Lending practices. The Office also works with Faith-based organizations in helping them develop capacity for the development of affordable housing. |
