One of the fastest growing housing markets in the country, Fulton County's homeownership rate has increased by 35% since 2000. However, while homeownership has reached an all time high, an extremely high number of residential foreclosures also peaked in 2004 in excess of 7,500. Stabilized neighborhoods depend on the nonexistence of residential foreclosures. Therefore, the key to successful homeownership and home retention is an effective consumer educational campaign.

The 2005 Homeownership/Preservation Symposium and Expo is designed to provide future and existing homeowners of Fulton County with an educational opportunity to learn and understand key components of homeownership and home retention. A state-of-the-art curriculum covering everything from the importance of understanding credit scores to understanding the content and implications of legal documents will be offered to participants.

With an anticipated attendance of over 30,000, the Symposium and Expo will provide a holistic approach by reaching out to every segment of the community that affects homeownership: federal, state, and local governments; homeowners; realtors; developers; builders; mortgage brokers; regulatory agencies; lending institutions; insurance industry; housing agencies; faith-based organizations; and community and neighborhood associations.
